He offered me my original $99 deal on a new 680 if I extended my contract, and I was only 6 months into my 24, so we sealed the deal. In case anyone's curious how you hard-reset a Treo 680 when you can't see the screen :-), I found and applied these <a href="http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.palmtops.pilot/browse_thread/thread/7f38baf756e75ef3/4b95843e12e7646c" rel="nofollow">instructions</a>, and simply hope they worked! An unlocked 680 goes for $399... eBayers seem to have AT&T or Cingular ones that have been unlocked for $320ish.
